| It's pretty much known to all dieters that eating at night, so close to bedtime, is unhealthy for you, but I am not sure why. This could be dumb, but could someone explain to me why it is so unhealthy?

That was a great article Peter! I so agree. My sister is a nurse and she told me several years ago that I should something later at night to keep my metabolism going throughout the night. So I always eat a healthy snack around 8:30, like an apple or other fruit, a snack size (100 calories) of popcorn, etc... I try to keep it to something that is under 100 calories. I decided the night before everything I will eat the next day and I always include this snack into my plan. That way I am not overdoing it at night.
There are so many myths out there so you really have to research topics and ask questions. I think that was a wonderful questions, as I am sure a lot of people believe this to be true.

As I have posted elsewhere in this forum, my VERY NON-SCIENTIFIC thoughts on the subject are that there probably are a number of "tricks" you can use... when you eat, how long your do cardio, when you do cardio and whether you do it before or after weights or with or without an empty stomach or or or...
Have one extra dessert at you mom's birthday party it will make more difference than all the tricks did for a month!
That could simply be wrong. The tricks might make more difference than I know. But I'd just rather put my energy into learning to eat and exercise well.
Just my 2 cents!
Peter
P.S.
Every once in awhile I like to remind you all that while this is my website, I have no professional training in the subject of diet and weight loss. I created a little calories burned calculator for a hobby, and things got crazy. I get 15,000 visitors a day now!
My goal is to help people learn that the fad diets don't work, and that learning to eat well is the only long-term answer.
