| I just read an article my trainer gave me about plateaus. My body adjusts really quickly so I plateau a lot. What I've heard is that you should change your workout. If you do a lot of cardio try adding a more extensive weight lifting routine. If you always ride a bike try a different machine or going for runs. I recently felt really stuck so I started doing more weights and quickly saw more weight come off.

Hi, I have the same problem except the fact that I quit smoking, and I am over 40. So, i'ts very difficult to lose weight for me, and I was told this from various sources. Remember these are just possibilities, you might be already on track or not have these problems. Also I am not a doctor, so use common sense.
1. Drink enough water. It can be a problem losing weight if you don't drink enough water. Drinking water hydrates the skin and it prevents you from being sick while your dieting (flushes the body).
2. Cut carbohydrates if you need to, if your eating too much white bread, cakes, cookies, or crackers, it is best to cut the bad carbohydrates and substitute good ones.
3. Eat a little more food and see if your in starvation mode, if thats a problem (where your body holds on to calories because your eating too little). I find you can sometimes eat something and drop weight, believe it or not.
4. Stop eating anything you might be allergic to such as: Citrus, wheat, shellfish or dairy (a few possibilities if you notice a problem).
5. Change your exercise routine (your body gets immune sometimes to the same routine).
6. Get enough sleep (7 hrs at least because you produce a stress hormones if you don't).
7. Drink clean, non-mineral water with lemon juice (to drop water weight if you are retaining it, to give you vitamin C if your not allergic to citrus, and avoid mineral water because of the salt).
8. Don't stop eating fun foods you love, just substitute your favorite fattening foods for low calorie alternatives (again stress can cause weight gain, if you feel bad it can cause stress).
9. Do exercises in a full range of motion, exercise every part of your body without overdoing it (stress). Weights are very helpful to build muscle, and muscle burns fat. Exercise regularly, unless you have medical problems. If so check with your doctor about safe diet and exercise.
10. See that you eat healthier foods such as fruits or veggies. By eating less calories and you feel full, and calculating the calories burned per hour (there are online calculators), for the type of exercise your doing, you can burn more calories than you put on.
I hope this has helped. It has helped me.
