Can I count calories by week instead of by day to get the same results?

For example I am allotted 2200 calories per day in this program I am on.... Well smart me decided that I was gonna start counting from like 8 PM to 8 PM so I could start fresh for dinner. Well throughout the week I made that time earlier and earlier, that 8 became 5, then3, then noon, and well now I'm like a day behind and if I want to be the same calories for the week before weigh-in I have 2200 calories to stretch between today and tomorrow for weigh-in Friday.

Well the question is I get 15400 calories per week and if I eat 15400 calories in a week's time will it matter that I overate during some of the earlier days or will it balance itself out the same?

Just wondering thanks.

You absolutely can.  This is the whole approach for an Eat Stop Eat lifestyle.  You have to be cautious though in the distribution of the calories.  For example if your maintenance level is 2000 cals and you go and eat 5000 cals one day and then don't eant any the next and a 1000 the next, yea you're still at 6000 cals for those 3 days, but the effect will be slightly different.  If you know you have a big meal coming for a holiday/birthday, then yea odds are you will overeat that day, so undereat the next few.

I look at my calories on a daily basis, but really focus on the weekly aspect.  Good luck!

You can do your calculate by week, but need to be more rigorous, because the week is more long that one day and the error curve can be higher.

Calories by day or week have variations by person too, if your metabolism is accelerated, you will can eat more. To know it you will need to do medical exams.

I did research to how to planning my food by day, and started to use my cellphone.
I have a phone with android system, and i use my phone as schedule to help me know total food points I have consumed by day.
I use the program Score Diet: http://www.appbrain.com/app/score-diet/com.scorediet
After many researches, I found the site of manufacturer and I like.

I think that IPhone or Windows Phone have similar schedule programs. But i am using the Score Diet that allow to me eat anything. I am only starting, but my wife had good results.

I hope that i have helped you.

imo, it would be better to count the calories daily to carefully monitor your food intake. if you eat much on a day and then eat less on another day, that somehow confuses your metabolism and digestive system. I suggest that you track it by day instead.

I don't really agree with this, it's too easy to get caught in a horrible trap. "I ate 4,000 today so I can only have 400 tomorrow." Well, tomorrow comes, and you eat more than 400, you beat yourself up and feel worse, and one day you wake up and realize you have an eating disorder. If the margin of error was only 200 or so calories that wouldn't be a problem but you should never go below your RMR.

Hi there, I have wondered that myself so i just decided to just try it. I've been doing it for a month and have lost 10 pounds so i guess it's working. I've incorporated the eat stop eat life style with my weekly calorie intake. 2 days out of the week I eat only lunch or only dinner and then my next meal is not until 24 hours later so that im still eating everyday. It seems like every year I'm trying something new but i believe this regimen is a keeper because I can really see me do this for maintaining any weight loss. No one knows I'm even on a weight loss journey because I'm not a salad girl. Good luck on your journey
