Hi guys, I've been reading the smoothies posts looking for some yummy recipes.  Here's  my problem...I'm allergic to peanut butter, so that's out, and I hate bananas, so that's not an option either.  I swear, I've tried to learn to like them, but they are the one fruit that I just can't abide.  My mom always says the problem is  that she made me eat too many of them when I was a baby and I reached my life's quota too soon

Does anyone have any banana and peanut free recipes to share?  Low-cal would be great!

Thanks a bunch!

Smoothies can be made with any fruit...buy a bag of frozen mixed berries and mix that up with some yogurt or skim milk. Or if your more into citrus...orange/pineapple is good too!

That's just what I do!   If I want it more "fruity", I mix 1 c. soy milk, 4 oz. orange juice, 4 oz. fat free vanilla yogurt, and then add frozen mixed fruit until it's cold and thick!  :yum::yum:

If I want more protein........if it's my breakfast, and I need it to hold me over to lunch, I use vanilla protein powder, with water........then add the frozen mixed fruit until it's thick and cold.

I used many variations of fruit too, according to my mood or what I have on hand.  If you use frozen fruit, it gets thick like a shake.  :yum::yum:

Lol...good play on words CodeMonkey.  Made me smile

Thanks for the recipe, Hisgal, I'm going to try it!  I've never had soy milk before...but since I'm trying not to drink too much cow's milk, I guess it's about time to give soy a chance.

Once my mom blended tomatoes and nestea together...

It was pretty weird.

It tasted alright despite the disgusting look.

Tomato chunks floating in nestea.

After reading Hisgal's post on here and when my wife told me she was going to make smoothies on Saturday I asked her to pick up the smallest carton of soy milk, just to try it. I've tried "meat-less" burgers and other food items made to resemble food items that come from an animal and I have to admit I never cared for them. The veggie burger made me sick to my stomach. Anyway I thought I'd give soy milk a shot.

My wife bought light soy milk, which had half the calories than skim milk. I was hoping for a small pint, but the smallest they had was a quart. I figured if we didn't like it the dogs would probably drink it. My wife and daughter tasted it and actually loved it. They tried to get me into tasting it but I refused. I wanted it mixed with something, I didn't want to try it plain. I'm weird that way.

She made the smoothie with the light soy milk and a mix of frozen fruit (strawberry, canalope, etc), fat free plain yogurt and I tried it. I couldn't tell whether it was made with soy or regular milk. To me it was still pretty good. Even my youngest son, who's a VERY picky eater, wanted seconds. I think later I may try a glass of plain soy milk just to try it out. I won't do it when anyone else is lookin' though.

Anyway, the point I was trying to make is calorie per calorie I'd recommend if a recipe calls for milk to go ahead and use light soy milk.

Blended tomatoes and nestea? Uck, I think I'd pass on that.
