Today I was experimenting with a low-calorie way to make a tasty stir fry. I had some chicken and broccoli and some soy sauce and worcestshire sauce. So I added them together. It was okay , but I'm looking for ways to make it better. Are there any other sauces/spices/herbs/flavorings/anything I can add to make it more flavorful and less salty? What do you guys usually do for your stir fry?

I usually start a stir-fry with onion and garlic, and fresh minced ginger is a necessity! It really give the dish a sweet spiciness. Fresh herbs like thyme, basil, and cilantro also add a lot of flavor, but wait to add them until the last 5 minutes or so, or they'll cook down too much.
While I do use soy sauce, I usually buy the low-sodium type, which helps cut down the saltiness.
I also like to add a little fresh lemon or lime juice right near the end of cooking. It really brightens up the flavors.
Bon appetit!! :yumm:

| Mint is also good in a stir-fry. Mint and lime are great.

Try mixing a little sherry, soy sauce, red pepper flakes and ginger together with 1 packet9or cube) of chicken or beef bullion. I use Herb ox very low sodium.
Add the mixture at the last minute and just let it come to a simmer with the dish.

| I use chinese 5-spice powder or Adobo spices (careful with that, lots of sodium) and sometimes I will mix in a little wasabi powder for a zing. Last edited on 3 March 2006 05:34 am by Snow
