Any ideas for cooking vegetarian food on a grill?  It's too hot to heat up the kitchen, and I am tired of luke warm to cold food.

Thanks

aislinga,

Do you like mushrooms?    When my husband has the occasional hamburger on the grill, I grill a large portabella mushroom.

I spray the mushroom with olive oil spray and sprinkle lightly with seasoning salt.   Make sure you spray the grill (I use Reynolds "release" foil)    Grill until done, flipping once.    I like to grill a few onions on the grill and top the mushroom with that and a little fat free ranch dressing on a whole wheat bun.   Yummm!:yumm:

That sounds really good, especially with the onions.  Thanks

Eggplant is great to put on the grill and so is zucchini.

If you like Kohlrabi - bread it and grill it or fry it in a pan.

Thanks for the reminder about eggplant and zucchini. And Portabello mushrooms make great burgers!

It's almost time to get out the BBQ for summer.

At the risk of sounding non-organic, couldn't you microwave cook something you'd prepared earlier?

It's pretty hot here in Portugal, but my wife keeps her kitchen cool by just such ruses.  I suppose BBQs are a possibility, but I've never fancied eating stuff off a grill that has animal fat all over it.

By the way, that subject title 'vegetarian grilling'...   I thought someone had thought up a new way of torturing us hippie-dippie meat-avoiders.  Glad they haven't (yet).

Thanks Fatale,

I don't care for eggplant, but I do like kohlrabi, I'll give it a try.

Nevd,

"couldn't you microwave ..."

Well mostly because I like grilling, carmelization being a gift from the gods.

I do use the microwave too, but I think that something is lost, either in texture or flavor, and I tend to eat less when dinner is really flavorful because I slow down to savor each morsal.
