Hi everybody.  Well, I've finally gotten up the courage to post a before pic.

I'm only showing my face, because those are the only new pictures I have.

Just a recap - I started at 281, today I weigh 200 - only 1/2 lb from moving into the "overweight" catagory for my height.

So here are my last days as an obese person.

I have no idea who this person is...

281 lbs.  And braces.  What a dork!

This is the person I am getting to know...

200 lbs and, if I do say so myself, great teeth!

I know you've heard this all before, but I swear to the almighty if I could do it so can you.  I am an addict, I am compulsive, I had given up on life.

I am getting better.  I have hope, I have faith - I am worthy.

You look stunning.  Congratulations on the weight loss.  And the teeth are oh-so nice.  You look like a completely different person.  Can't wait 'til I can post some before and afters.

Wow!  I am amazed at how cute you are now period but especially compared to the "old you"

But I do want to make the point that the girl in the first picture is worth just as much as the girl in the second picture.

Just in case there's any confusion... sometimes it's like we hate ourselves when we are fat or goofy-looking or whatever, and it's never good to hate one's self, no matter what.  But it always feels good to make your outside feel like it's caught up with your inside...

I'm really appreciating the way you've phrased things, here and in the religion thread, Straylight. =)

Congratulations, Midge.  You look as if you've shed years with the pounds! =)

You are absolutely beautiful!  Good job so far on the weight loss.  It's annoying and it's hard, but so worth it in my opinion.

Keep us posted and keep up the good work.

Midge your making me feel like a wimp!  I just can't post my before picture, it's so terrible!  But you look fabulous!  I can't wait until I'm in the "not obese" category, I think I'm still ten pounds away.

Ok, here are some body shots.   Well, sorta.  I'm sitting in the new one, but you get the idea.

Me at 281:

Get a load of that look

I still hate side views

Me at 194.5 and sitting next to my shoe project.

Happy, but still a ways to go...

Amazing results! When looking at both before and after shots, you could easily make someone believe that one is the mom and the other one the daughter. Not only you lost so much weight, but you "lost" years! Just in a few sentences, could you tell me what the main reasons for your success are?

Well, honestly the main thing was something intangible.  One day I was stuffing my face, the next day I had had enough and it was like a switch flipped on.  Not that it was easy, but it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.

In practical terms I basically follow a 1200 calorie a day/get more movement plan.  And that's it.  I tr to stick to whole foods, but I don't always meet that goal.  One of the biggest things I do is that I don't use food as a reward, ever.  Yeah I have meals where I don't stress about what I'm eating but I don't work hard just to look forward to some special food treat or free day or whatever.  I am an addict, this doesn't work for me.
