My name is Jodie and I lost 153 lbs through diet and exercise. It took a year and a half. I made a wiki that tells the whole story and how I did it as it would take up too much space http://timeforachange.wetpaint.com/ I know how difficult it is to lose weight. It is a "habit" that you have to break. There is nothing more helpful than motivation and encouragement and to those of you who are just begining your journey...I have big ears and would loveto hear from you! Best of luck to you all!

Jodie

Thanks for sharing your story Jodie and congratulations on your success.

I am just in the early stages of my journey, trying to lose a total of 84 pounds, having lost 23 so far.  I've been at this for about 7 weeks now and the early momentum has worn off a bit and I am finding it more challenging to stick to it every day.  But seeing stories like yours just reminds me that (1) it is possible (2) it takes discipline and dedication and (3) I will look and feel so much better about myself.

Plus, it will be really fun to go clothes shopping again.  I had the best clothes when I was thin and now I don't even bother going because nothing fits.  I am getting excited just thinking about it!

That is exactly how you stay motivated...focus on the things that you will get to do and how much better you will feel and how wonderful it feels to be healthy and strong! Oh yeah the shopping thing is definately great! Best of luck to you...you are well on your way!

Wow, awesome accomplishment!  You rock!

What were the reactions of people around you?

I like your idea for salads...after all, there's no rule anywhere saying you have to eat foods in a certain way. :)  I think I'll mix things up a bit and see what I can do to make new appealing and healthy options.
