I lost 71 pounds and it was a lot easier than I thought. I have been heavy all my life...I tried so many times to lose weight but failed the same number of times. I had so much to lose that whenever I tried, my goal was so far away that it seemed unattainable. That itself was the main reason...knowing I had months & months of diet & exercise. I just couldn't do it for such a long period of time.
What I did was to go at it one week at a time and give myself a "day off" every week. My day of choice was Sunday. I would diet strictly and exercise vigorously and faithfully Mon thru Sat always knowing that my "day off" was less than a week away. On Sunday I would eat what I wanted and as much as I wanted. I'm from the South, so Sunday dinner was always a big deal around our house. I could enjoy the day & meal with everyone else.
Also, you'd be surprised how quickly your stomach shrinks. What I would normally eat before, I couldn't even begin to hold. Plus, as the weight began to drop, I was feeling so much better about myself that I ended up wanting to exercise & eat sensibly on my "day off" anyway. It really worked for me.
Make your goal an attainable one. I'm 6' 4" and went from 251# to 180# & have never felt better in my ENTIRE life...I didn't feel this good or have this much energy when I was a waddly teenager.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Way to go! How long did it take you? How long have you been at your goal weight?

Thanks! It took almost a year. I've only been @ my goal weight for a month or so...and I know that maintaining will be as difficult (or maybe in some ways more so) than the actual weight loss process itself.
I have been blessed with good cooks in my family and the fact that I am a good eater doesn't help much, either.
Thanks again for the encouragement! Have a great Christmas & good luck in your loss program.

FALLDOWNGUY,
Very, very impressive success going from 251 to 180. It appears you also did it in a healthy way by losing a little over a pound a week.

Great story - congratulations...
Unfortunately, you're in the minority when you're prepared to lose at a steady rate. Most diets and supplements etc. are aimed firmly at the 'I want to be slim by next week' hopefuls.
Well done, and thanks for sharing your results.

It is AMAZING how true that is, and it's equally ironic how you find "new: ways to reward yourself!
Good on ya for the new you, and your ongoing changes!
