I just wanted to post my success story to hopefully encourage some of those people that have been putting off losing weight as I had. I waited until the last possible moment before beginning my diet, to the point where the Dr. warned me of all the serious health problems that could occur if I didn't slim down quick. The only thing I regret is waiting as long as I did to start. I could have enjoyed my first two years of high school instead of cowering away from any kind of physical activity that I could embarrass myself in (which was pretty much all of them because of my lack of endurance). Since losing the weight I feel so much more healthy and I just can't wait for swim season to finally start so I can finally do something I've been wanting, but unable to do, for years. Just do it people! You won't regret it, no matter how much effort it takes.

Heres some pictures of my before and after...  Hopefully you can tell which one is which :yum:

Some people tell me I look like Ozzy Osbournes son / Jack Black, still trying to decide if thats a compliment or not :yum: O and I'm wearing clothes I had just come back from the pool though.

Hey, good for you.  What a difference between those two pictures.  SO have you changed your lifestyle?  How are you going to ensure that you don't re-gain all that weight you have worked so hard to lose?  A lot of us, although sadly not me (yet) are working onthe maintenancephase of weight loss,a nd we would all be fascinated to hear how you are doing.  Come back and post regularly for us?

My mother had tried to get me to go to a nutrionist several times so I could learn the proper way to diet but I kind of just did my own thing. I eat pretty much whatever I want but I do not ever eat any kind of desert, no matter how sugar free, fat free, calorie free, whatever free. I also stopped drinking soda and restrict myself to water and crystal light (addicted to this stuff, I'll probably end up getting cancer from the stupid artificial sweetner :yum:). As soon as swim season starts in a couple weeks I'll hopefully be able to get down to my goal weight of 150lbs, though that may be a little low as my family has told me. I'm currently around 5'6 or 5'7 and weight 180lbs coming from the 232 I was in the before picture. Anyone happen to know if 150lbs is a reasonable weight for me?

O also I worked out an hour a day for a couple months and when I finally lost enough weight to feel comfortable in my swim suit I started swimming for an hour rather than my usual eliptical work out. Hopefully the on the side swimming will help me with the first couple practices which I hear are brutal.

Edit: I wanted to thank everyone for their compliments and wish them luck on any diets they may be on as I continue my own. I've started to take more pictures of myself as a form of a weight diary since I don't necessarily trust my scale.

150lb + 5'7" gives a BMI of 23.5, which is in the "normal" range.

Body Composition is a better tool for assesing whether you should continue to slim down
