I used to weigh 135lbs, and got rid of 15lbs in 3 mths (approximately 1lbs a week, so still consider it healthy). Below are the rules that I followed in the 3 mths:
  1. Breakfast - should be extremely healthy. I usually hv low fat yogurt, fresh fruits, or whole wheat bread. The first meal of the day is very important, which may help to maintain a good digestive system.
  2. Avoid processed food
  3. Replace snacks with fresh fruits or low fat milk (tips: Apple is really great snack as it will fill ur stomach!)
  4. Regular mild exercies: severe exercises are not good for losing fat. To burn fat it is more important to pay attention to the heart rate. Ask the fitness instructor abt the range of heart rate that may help to burn fat, and try to maintain within that level for 30 mins, then followed by 30 mins of weight-training exercises. Think this combination is great for shaping the body!
  5. Eat before exercise, not after it. Same theory that u hv to add some wood before so that the fire (fat) can burn.
  6. Eat slow. It takes time to realize the stomach is full. If eating too fast, u will continue eating even though u r full aldy, just u don't realize it.
  7. Don't keep any junk food at home. There can be fresh fruits and veggie in your fridge only.
  8. Keep a photo of yourself on your desk or as your wallpaper: should be the one portraits the fattest u so that u can keep alert.
  9. Keep track of both weight and fat%: I think fat% is more important. If fat% continues to running high, it is quite likely the weight will bounce back once u loss a little control.
  10. Food combinations should change frequently. Never concentrate on single food combination only. Diff food may hv diff nutritions. Some fat is good for our body, too.
Hope it may help.
