I started changing my eating habits and started excersising on March 22, 2005 when I weighed 271 lbs (I am male 5 foot 10 large frame). This week my rapid loss slowed to the recommended 2 lbs a week. I am now (4/29/05) 242 lbs. I was a little concerned by the speed that it came off but I felt very good and always ate. My question is that could it be healthy for someone to lose that kind of weight that quickly? I am in my mid 20's and have experienced rapid, unintended weight loss and gain before. I think maybe my body just changes quickly. My goal is 200 lbs but have always had a hard time getting below 230. we will see.
The quick loss has resulted in me being able to excersise without pain, walk without joints hurting, etc. I have always struggled with food. I just really enjoy eating. I will keep you posted.

Travis B,
I don't know if you have ever seen the reality TV show "Biggest Loser", but it was about a group of obese people that competed for the most weight loss over a specified period of time. Some of the contestants had similar results to yours. I guess I would be more bothered over the weight loss you've had in the past without trying. Great news that you now can incorporate exercise into your program. Once I got that part going, my weight loss doubled per month. Hang tight, 200 is on it's way.

| unintended means I wasn't trying, Life just combined to create situations in which calorie burn was greater than calorie intake. Thanks for the encouragement. I was hoping to hear of similar situations. I would hate to loose weight for my health only by jepordizing it.

| Couple of things. Your results are great, but you body has just been through a big shock and it will take a while and some consistency from you for it to totally adjust. Over such a short period, some of the weight loss is water and muscle so don't be surprised if a bit slips back on. If you are exercising, keep it up, if not, it would be very beneficial to start slow and build up.
